It works just fine but even if you buy the license you won't be able to register it as the registration window won't show up so you are out of luck to use it for more than 15 days.

Now I had a talk with the developer "Tim Kingsbury" who is a very nice guy, he said that unfortunately he has a lot of work on other projects but will try to find a fix for this one too, unfortunately he wasn't able to work on this lately so he kindly refunded my registration fee (which as I told him wasn't necessary so he is a very correct man) but the sad part is that I still can't use the program as it simply won't let me after 15 days so I wrote a little crack that enables to use the program to be used without registration this way you can use it on your Windows Mobile 6.1 device BUT please DON'T ask me for the crack instead please go to the CEdit's page and buy the program so we can motivate "Logical Sky" to update the build for the latest devices and we support them too as it's really a must have program for those who have to do some little codings/fixings while on road, thats for sure!

PS: If you have a working license and you can't use it on your Windows Mobile 6.1 device let me know and if "Logical Sky" approves I may send you the exe file to have it working but lets hope they will fix the problem sooner :)
<img width='1' height='1' before, so unfortunately I have to give up on the Rockbox modifications/builds/themes as I have other things to do and as one of my fans said even if it's not the time it's the interest and that's true, I'm not so interested in it anymore as for mp3 playback there are now phones with huge storage capacities so why take another "kutyuru" (thingy) if you have everything within one, so I almost never use my iPod lately and that's why I didn't care more about the look nor how it works.

I will keep the posts below for archive reasons but please don't use any builds as (I'm almost sure) they wont work at all, but I know there are a lot of discussions and other ports of my themes so here by I grant all usage privileges to anyone who wants it :) so please don't email me to set a copyright notice to the themes and get the rights from the image/picture/wallpaper owners so you can use it, I don't remember from where I got those backgrounds so as I wrote on my posts before if the owners mind they should contact me but they didn't so you are free to use them as I see.

I will now start to work on some other programs (as my free time allows it) for other portable players/phones, Windows Mobile, Android or why not even iPhone depending on what "kutyuru" I have but I'm not really a Mac fan so I wouldn't count on that :), anyways, I settled down a bit now so hopefully I will have some more time for this blog in the future and give some life back to it.

Cheers,

Development of my Coding Life

Everything started in 1991 when I got my first Commodore (so called Chip in our country) with Basic installed by default. First I started to play some games (as I was a child) and then went on with installing applications and start making my owns using Basic. After a year or so I started disassembling programs and got in touch with the Assembler language. I wrote a few little program using this language.

In 1993 we (my family) got our first real pc, a 486 with 110mhz proc. Now I got introduced to the filesystem logic and to the keyboard without commands on any key :) not to mention DOS and Win 3.x, The first language that I learned on this pc was Borland Pascal and then started to combine Pascal with ASM.

Around 1994-1995 I wrote my first virus using ASM which turned of your pc every hour :) and if you moved your mouse it searched for other .com files to infect. Then I wrote a little patch to command.com to request a password when loading so you weren't able to boot the pc even if you reset the BIOS pass unless you booted from floppy. Around this year I wrote a little Flash like application in Pascal in text mode (so called CRT mode) and you were able to make (by drawing) little intros for you programs that got played back when program launched. I started to read some books on Sound cards (as we got one :)) and on video cards and build my own voice login system that recognized the password you spoke to it and developed the XMS memory rutin in ASM for Pascal so now we (me and my friends) were able to use XMS within our programs.

In 1995 Windows 95 got introduced in our country too (it was a big day) so we compressed the whole hdd so we had enough space to install it and then started learning some Visual Basic (back to Basic again :)). This was the time when I started experimenting with C too. The only problem with C was that there wasn't much regarding internet by then in our country so compilers and editors could be gathered only by friends and because our people are pretty possessive you weren't able to get much help from them, anyways I managed to write a little program including ASM too which was able to bring a text program like Norton Commander to graphical mode e.g. VGA.

In 1996-1997 I got my first personal PC so I was able to work all day long :) I worked on with Pascal (as I liked it much) and learned some OOP too, did some windows like programs that were able to control multiple windows with active contents, combined launching buttons with wav files so these buttons talked to you :) and helped you what to do. At my father's company we got our first phone modem so I was able to have some access to internet too (eee what an internet it was back then :)). It was this time when I got in first contact with Linux, so I installed it right away and started learning every command, when I realized that with tab+tab you can show all the available commands I even wrote them out to a note so I could try them out one by one :) It was a great day when I launched X and got the first screensaver with the bugs running on your screen :) I played a lot with Linux but back then it was pretty useless from users point of view so I got back to windows but never give up on Linux.

In late 1997 I started using disassemblers/debuggers and cracked my first program called RAV Antivirus, it was limited to be able to run only from one original floppy so you weren't able to run it if copied but with little effort (a day or so) I was able to remove this limit and use the program :) From this point on I started to crack more and more programs as it was a fun to realize how things work that others wrote and get into their heads to trick them :) BUT never released any cracked program to the public as I knew how hard is to write a good program so I prize those programmers. My mother wrote a fax to this company and they wanted to talk to me right away but I was in school back then so it wasn't much future for me as the school was the first.

NOTE: I learned everything by my own as in the school as was taking a whole different classes (as my parents wanted me to be in the Tourism business) and I was one of the best ice hockey player in our team we even went to world championship and I was the best left wing player on one of the games so I learned all the programming besides all these as I loved it.

In 1998 I got my own internet connection at home so now I was online 24/24 7/7 and got introduced to HTML, build my first page and started hacking other pages :) Late this year I switched totally to Linux and started learning other languages like Bash, CGI, Perl and continued some of my C knowledge too. In this year I got my first job too at a local company as programmer, I wrote different applications in Delphi, using Access DBs and things like that but unfortunately my boss didn't care much for their workers so I left after three months.

In 1999 I got another job by another local company and worked some more with Visual Basic, but then I got cached by PHP :) and web developing so I started writing web pages using PHP, MySQL and Linux as under linux all these went just so well so from this point on I never looked back to Windows anymore :) at least not for work.

In 2000 after I didn't see any possibilities at the current company to move forward I build up my own company with one of my friends and we started developing web pages for all the local and near by companies. At the start everything went pretty well, it wasn't easy as we had to do everything almost from nothing, but we managed to get our own place, get some pcs and we even got profit after a year or so. I build a lot of pages back then as I was the programmer and my friend the manager (getting all the jobs) and I even got used to linux server setups/managements with emails/webmails, telnet, ftp, ssh and even iptables (when it got introduced to Redhat and we were able to install on our own servers). Within this time I learned a lot regarding HTML, Javascript, PHP, MySQL even some more CGI, Perl and not to mention the design part (as I was the designer too) so I learned a lot using Photo Impact, PhotoShop, Macromedia Flash, Actionscript. Unfortunately with time as more money we got as more problem we had with each other so we split up, I sold my part to him and went my own way. I will never forget this day as when my father saw the papers with the incomes he said to me - Son, I never thought you can make money by just sitting in the front of a computer and hitting those little keys. - so I was proud even if I had to sell my part.

In 2003 I got in touch with a company from oversees and continued my work as web developer even learning more about PHP and friends. After a year they invited me to a 3 months internship at the Carnegie Institution of Washington (CIW) where I learned more about OOP using PHP, XML, MySQL, Java and Networking. After I got back I continued my work developed more and more pages include some for CIW.

Around 2005 I started a little company all by myself, set up my own SVN server and started getting other projects from other parts too. Around this time I set up a second server for my media db too, connected with the TV, set up an universal remote controller using LIRC and brought to life my own media center.

In 2006 when I got my first (and last) iPod I wasn't happy with the original firmware so I switched to Rockbox and relized that Rockbox is a great system but it didn't have the right look so I did some coding using C, made some patches and designed some great rockbox themes, bootloader and released them to the community.

In 2007-2008 I'm still developing web pages. I learned a lot about PHP and MySQL optimization, Javascript, AJAX, CSS, created some web applications and so on but I just miss the days when I was able to just simply write a "hello word" application using only hex codes without any encoder so lately I decided to do some disassembling/debugging to see what has changed since the 1998s and I was able to get back to my form easily and do some hacking :)

Now lets see where life will take me in the following years.

jClix Rockbox Themes - Note: these patches should support all other themes, so you should be able to use the original rockbox themes with these patches.

DOWNLOAD:
* jClix Theme Package
* Rockbox jBuild to use the themes

Patches:
* custom_display_width.patch
* custom_list_position.patch
* customline.patch
* multifont.patch
* multifont-userfonts.patch

Click on the patches for more info, they are now on the rockbox tracker and I hope they will be useful for your future themes.

Fonts: the fonts used in these themes are included in the theme package, so you shouldn't have problems using them.

NOTES:
* The album arts for the themes should be 85x85 sized, I know this is not a standard size, but the builds don't support album art anyway (for now), because I'm waiting for the new album art to come out wich should have scaling capabillities.

Copyright: again, some of the backgrounds may be copyrighted but I hope their creators won't be mad at me for using them, I really enjoy your backgrounds people and would like to thank you for making them, and if you see your background and would like to see your name here, please drop me a letter, I would be happy to have your name on my site :)

Enjoy as always,
jME

Rockbox Bootloader with fullscreenlogo and Statusbar

I had some free time, and this is what came out :)
I just finished to create a custom Rockbox bootloader for the iPod Video with a fullscreen logo (you know, the girl holding the iPod), and a custom status bar which I hope will look as good as the rest :)

The girl with the iPod now really holds a Black iPod video, so it's now your turn :)

Ok, this is how it looks, the bootloader splashscreen and the new fullscreen logo:

Download custom Bootloader
You can get the custom rockbox boot loader from
http://solutions-i.org/julius/rockbox/ for rockbox which was done by S3TUP so, big Thanks to him! and I thought it would be great if we used this one when rockbox boots, so I did a little patch and everything works like a charm.

This is the image which will be shown when rockbox boots:

Get the two images for your iPod color and/or video here:
iPod Color: rockboxlogo.220x68x16.bmp
iPod Video: rockboxlogo.320x98x16.bmp

and get the Patch from here: full_screen_logo.patch which is required for placing the image at the top edge of the screen, and to remove the version label from the bottom, so only the background is shown.

You can always use my prebuild binaries (look for rockbox-jbuild-YYYYMMDD.tar.gz) for both iPod types, but please note that these binaries have been patched with the Scroll margins, Custom status bar height, Custom font height and so on, so your old themes my not look as good as before because this patches have been optimized for my themes :)

jBlackGlass Rockbox Themes - iPod Video

I've just finished making some new rockbox themes, using Win Media Player 11 design elements, I know, there is already one Till now I used Anjuta for coding, so I had to modify some of the vim default settings so I have a little compatibility between this two editors.

So what did I do? the first thing that I used a lot in Anjuta was the Shift+Arrows to select some texts, I know there is a good one in vim to by using "v", "y", "p" and so on, but in insert mode I need to be able to select a part of the text and with a backspace or del cut it out, you know when you have to delete more lines it is hard to delete them one by one.

Ok, I think it would be better if I wrote a list so here it is:
1: Shift+Arrows to select text in insert mode
2: CTRL+C, CTRL+V, CTRL+Y compatibility in insert mode
3: Auto complete mapped to all chars, so when you type a popup menu is shown to select from a word list.
4: Automatic fold method (fold method set to indent), and map Space to open/close folds in normal mode.
5: Enable spell checker by default
6: Map CTRL+Left, CTRL+Right to prev/next buffer in normal mode
7: Map CTRL+N, CTRL+x to new buffer and delete buffer in normal mode
8: Unmap CTRL+Z, I don't really need that

A few screenshots:

That's it, I tried to make things as compatible as possible with vim, so you can use all your standard vim keys.

You can get the plugin code from here: jVim.vim
but don't forget, this is my first attempt to write something like this, so any feedback/addition is more than welcome.

ps: The plugin uses the blackdust color scheme, so you may have to change that, but I'm working on a color scheme too, so maybe next time the plugin will use the color scheme it was made for :)

Rockbox, iTrip and iPod

This would be a little howto to get iTrip with dock connector up and running on a 5g iPod with Rockbox.

There are two main thing that are needed by the iTrip to work:
1: The first thing is the power supply on the dock connector
2: The second thing is the apple protocol which allows sending commands trough the dock connector to the iTrip.

To fix the first thing I went to the Rockbox's IRC channel, and to tell you the truth I was amassed about the help I got there, the rockbox team is really co-operative, I must thank especially to linuxstb, he helped me a lot with directing me to the right places, so after testing some of the codes from the iPodLinux project, we found out which one turns the power supply on, and now its already in the cvs tree.

So the first thing seems to be done, now we have power supply on the dock connector, so some of the iPod accessories may already work.

The second thing is a bit tricky, for the moment we don't really have a working apple protocol on 4 and 5g iPods, so there is no way to send commands to the iTrip which are required to turn the iTrip on because even if you have power on you dock connector, the iTrip won't power up till it receives the play command.

But don't worry, there is a solution for this :) it's not the best one, but it works. So what I did was to get the iTrip apart and found out which pins are used for the power supply. See here for the dock connector numbering.

The ones used for power are:
Pin 1 - Ground
Pin 17 + 3V

So if you take two little wires and meld them to this pins on the iTrip then you will be able to attach a second power supply to it which don't needs to be always on, just for a few seconds.

So if you done this, dock the iTrip to your iPod, fire up the original firmware and press play, this will turn the iTrip on, now connect you second power supply to the iTrip and restart your iPod by holding the Select+Menu buttons pressed. You will notice that even when your iPod is of the iTrip is still on, so you can now boot into Rockbox and disconnect the second power supply because we have power with Rockbox too.

So that's it, now you just select your preferred music and listen them on the radio :)

I attached two little flat batteries to the back of the iTrip with a little button, so I just press that small button when I reboot into Rockbox and everything works fine.

Enjoy, I hope it will be helpful to you or someone :)

Gnome-Panel Clock-Applet with Markup text label

When Novell introduced the new XGL (if I know it right, it was David who did all the hard work on this one) I was amassed by the new look of their upcoming distro, and there was a little thing that I noticed on the gnome panel bar, which was the clock displaying the time and date in custom format, so I decided to make mine the same way :)

So here it is:

I already submitted the patch to the gnome devel list, and maybe it will get into the next major release, but till then you can download the patch here, and to customize your clock edit the gconf key at /apps/panel/applets/clockapplet/prefs/custom_format

For e.g. this is the code for my clock:

<span font_desc="Sans 10" weight="bold">%I:%M

<

span font_desc="Sans 8" weight="heavy" rise="4000">%p

<

/span>

<

span rise="3000"> apply the patch and compile it, and that's it.

Enjoy as usually :)

Current Desktop

This is what I see all day long, and the days are just passing by without any warning :)

Details
I use Fedora There are a lot of themes available for the 5g, but I found a great one on a forum so I decided to port this theme to 5g.

And here it is:

To make everything fit together I had to change some of the rockbox codes, but you can download all the patches below. So these would be the things that you need:

Downloads
* Download Green5g Theme: Green5g-YYYYMMDD.tar.gz
* Patches: Get the latest patches from here
* Rockbox prebuild binaries (with all the patches applied): rockbox-jbuild-YYYYMMDD-$yourdevice$.tar.gz (IMPORTANT: you will need the latest rockbox daily build and after installing that on you iPod overwrite the files with the ones from my build)
* Download PSD files from here

NOTES:
This theme is a port of the "another .wps wannabe!" theme, I'm not sure who did this theme, but here is the link where I found it: http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=38075 so most of the credits go to GTS-R and I would specially thank him for including the .pds file in the zipped theme it made my work a lot easier!

I hope you will enjoy it as I do, all patches work with today's rockbox cvs (20060617), I will try to keep them updated but for I have a lot of other works there may be problems, so don't hesitate to contact me if you need any help. ps: if I forgot something for e.g. give credits to someone please contact me.

A Note from Matt:
"I was confused on how to properly install, all you have to do is download the theme itself and the modified prebuild binary. The patches are posted strictly for those interested in modifiying them. You can find a .tar opener for Windows called Stuffit. Works well though it's only a trial. -Matt"

My old Desktops

Here are a few screenshots from my old desktop, you know just to rembmeber them :)

Connectivity Linux
Connectivity integrated to Linux. It's something that was a great help for others, so I will try to keep this available.

This is a guide of Cleaning the Sony Vaio PCG-GRT100 Fan Cooler:

#1 - Unplug AC/Battery
First unplug AC and Battery to avoid any damage.

#2 - Access the innards
All you need to do to access the innards of this baby, is to unscrew the screw on the left side of the laptop.

#3 - Remove Top Panel (step 1)
You slide the purple panel to your left.

#4 - Remove Top Panel (step 2)
Gently lift the panel. It'll be attached to the laptop's motherboard by a cable so don't pull too hard.

#5 - Remove Keyboard (step 1)
To remove the keyboard, unscrew the screw that the red arrow is pointing to. That keeps the keyboard attached to the body of the laptop.

#6 - Remove Keyboard (step 2)
After that, side the keyboard up and then you can lift the keyboard out of the way.

#7 - Disconnect Keyboard
Disconnect the keyboard by pushing up the white connection.

#8 - Unscrew all screws
Screws marked with red need to be removed so You can access the cooler.

#9 - Remove plate :)
I think this is the keyboard fixing plate, you need to remove it.

#10 - Cooler connections
There are two connections that connects the cooler to the main board.

#11 - Disconnect cooler
Disconnect the cooler by pushing up the white connection.

#12 - Cooler successfully removed
Now You can start to clean the cooler.

#13 - Cleaning Cooler (step 1)
Cleaning the cooler by removing from the house.
